I travel a lot, which means I fly at least 10 times a year. Ryanair has been the only service I've used for the past few years and I'll continue to use it. The staff is nice, the plane is clean and it's cheap. Usually I travel with hand luggage only and I've never had any problems - as long as you read the rules and stick to them, you'll be perfectly fine. I've seen everything while waiting in front of the gate - people who refuse to put their hand luggage into a box to check dimensions when the staff asks them too and then after they pay the fee, they do it and start yelling because they are not getting a refund, people with 3 suitcases instead of one, passengers with a very oversized bag and more. As somebody said: it's all your fault. It is stated clearly on the website what is allowed and what not. Ryanair is the best low fare airline out there, and also the cheapest one. They're almost always on time and cancelled flights are very, very, very rare. If you made a mistake, don't blame them.
A rip off! I thought I was getting a good deal, only to find that they use every opportunity to charge you...I ended up spending more than I would have if I paid for the ticket a few hundred dollars more w/ a different airline. I regret traveling with Ryanair. I will never fly with them again. They should not be able to get away with such poor service.
They are a no-frills operator and they do live up to their name. Over past few years, I have flown with the airline and they have always been on time weather permitting. The staff is efficient and the planes as far as I have seen are well maintained too. I feel its best not to expect full service from a no frill carrier hence they should be judged accordingly I feel. All in all they are money's worth.
All bad reviews should be ignored.. I have flown Ryanair over three times now and never had a problem with them. As long as you stick to their rules you WILL NOT have a problem. Everyone who is complaining either hasn't printed their boarding cards or gone over on their luggage allowance. THAT IS YOUR OWN FAULT. If you don't like their own rules or don't want to print your own boarding pass go find another airline and pay 10x more.
We are Scots but live in Oz. We booked online from Edinburgh and received our tickets by email.
Ryanair know that tourists do not carry printers with them.
On arriving at checkin we were told that we should have a PRINTED ticket.
Naturally being travelers we didn't have a printed ticket.
We were told it would cost (not sure but I think it was) 20 pounds extra each to get a printed ticket.
Being a Scot I got a bit heated and said you have to be "b l o o dy kidding". I was told that if I continued to swear I would be arrested and not allowed on the flight.
I kissed the young guys feet and was allowed on the flight.
The flight from Edinburgh to Barcelona was amazing with drunken young female Weegies swearing so badly we were wondering if we had taken a wrong turn to a Billy Connolly concert.
I think the Rynair flight from Turnhouse to Girona (about 70 km from Barcelona) was probably the biggest con we have ever had in 20 years of travelling around the world.
I can't really remember but I think the original price on the internet was something like 47 pounds each in 2010 which was terrific.
They added on a percentage because we booked with a credit card (doesn't everybody?). They naturally added extra for baggage. We knew about this charge but of course Rynair have already worked out that international (sheep) travellers are allowed 25 kilos but they only allow 15 kilos before excess baggage charges kick in. Godnose how much they charge excess but you can be sure they are going to tell you it was in THE SMALL PRINT.
We were so upset about our treatment from Ryanair and the checkin experience that there is no way we would EVER use that company again.
Even if it cost three times the price going with another airline we wouldn't give Rynair the satisfaction of allowing airline authorities to legally allow Ryanair to get away with sharp practice which makes second hand car dealers and real estate agents look like monks.
... well apart from free cancellation, none really! no choice but to accept the change as hotel already booked, all arrangements at your destination already completed. no discount offered on the price of the flights as alternative airport was farther away which means additional transfer expenses, a real inconvenience. PROS: cheaper than competitors, so far on time flights CONS: stressful boarding experience as you have to muscle your way through to be able to get at least 2 seats together, it won't matter if you're in front of the queue unless you pay extra "priority boarding", charges if paying for flights using credit card, phone charges for calling customer services. this company's vision is no doubt maximising profit as all the comforts can now only be obtained by paying extra. "cheap but definitely not cheerful".
I had no choice but to fly Ryanair to Malta as it is the only Airline flying there out of to Dublin despite promising myself NEVER AGAIN having been on the receiving end of their rudeness and money grabbing intolerance before. However I thought things might have improved but not so. One thing baffles me still...why on earth is there no baggage allowance for infants? Surely they are the people who need it most i.e bottles, wipes, nappies, toys. ...wouldn't you think they would realise by now that people need their stuff , books, glasses, purses, tissues and other odds and ends Actually it seriously slows down boarding because truth is we all open the bags and root around until we find what we need before stowing then in the overhead bins. Seems daft to me....!! Cheaper price ticket does not make up for the grief and aggrivation and woe betide you if you get anything wrong...you will be fleeced and hung out to dry.
God ben plads,venligt personale .
Enkelt, billigt ressourse besparende.

I had a reservation with Ryan for 5 people.
When i tried to print my boarding passes the day before departure, the computer laacked a bit , but I got through all the pages, filling out names and passport numbers.
After filling out all the pages, I ended up with a paper, I thought was right for check in.
When i checked in the next day, I was charged 5 times 75 Euro, all togheter 375 Euros for one reservation for a family.. The boarding pass i printet in advance, wasn´t right, and I had to pay this evil amount, because of Ryan airs inappropriate computersystems. By the way, it took 1/2 a minute and 5 sheets of paper for the office to print the boarding passes.

Trying to change the name on two flights costs £110 each way (and that's to do it yourself online). It's pure profiteering and immoral. Then their website wouldn't allow us to do it due to a fault (I presume) so had to ring up their premium rate number and got hung up on multiple times by people in Hungary after being in a queue more than 10 minutes each time. Then they wanted £160 each way to do it over the phone because their WEBSITE DIDN'T WORK. Emails to their CEO and head of customer service have been ignored for more than a month! Terrible doesn't start to cover it. I will never ever use Ryanair again if I have anything to do with future holiday plans, no matter how cheap they are. It's false economy.

Awful! Never ever will I fly with Ryanair again. Let me tell you the story.. me and my family were flying to spain last month; me, my sister, my brother, mother, and 2 little sisters. So on our way there, they didn't pick on anyone else but my sister. She was wearing a scarf. They made her put her bag in the measuring scale, which we wouldn't mind; being a rule and all however the thing that got us was why her and only her? why not anyone else? the rest of our family? My mum was let through, as well as everyone else, but she went back to help out my sister who was confused about what to do. They wouldn't let my mum help her. why? We finally got to the aeroplane after being made to throw the little ones' baby food and nappies. They were about to fly. They weren't going to wait. We got into the flight. After hours looking for a seat, we finally sat. 0/10 is what I would rate ryanair based on comfortability. The good thing was though that we reached our destination really fast however my objection is on the fact that while landing, the pilot turned off the engine a few times. That, we all thought, was a very dangerous way to land. Then on the way back from Spain we went through the worst experience ever! We were in the line waiting to step into the aeroplane. In front of us we saw an Asian being kicked out and sent back to the entrance to pay for a bag that although was tiny, didn't fit in the measuring scale. Meanwhile, everyone else was being sent through joyfully. Next was a mixed race woman who had a backpack as a bag, she was sent to the side without even having her bag measured! We were all so confused. Then another Asian was stopped. and another, and another - no-one white, whatsoever. Our turn came. My sisters bag was measured first, it wouldn't fit. we were all shoved to the side. we fixed my sisters bag having to throw away someones gift. We were trying to get the rest of our bags weighed in order to go aboard however they wouldn't listen to us, they were ignoring us. they wouldn't let us weigh the other bags until everyone was long gone into the flight. Finally, they allowed us to weigh them. Thankfully all our bags fit in the box. we rushed to the aeroplane to see that they were about to fly. We were seconds away from missing our flight, again.

Hi, I would like to share with you my most recent experience with Ryanair. It was poor to say the least.
We were a party of 9 made of up of small children and adults flying out to Tenerife. For the outbound journey we encountered 2 critical problems.
First, one of the elderly passengers (my mother-in-law) was too ill to travel on the day. I had informed Ryanair of this several days in advance and they reassured me that this was fine. However, during the check in process we had to pay an extra £120 to check in 4 pieces of luggage. Apparently, 1 of the baggage allowance was in my mother-in-law's name and cannot be transferred. Solving this issue added an extra hour to the check-in process.
As a result we were late getting to the gate and had missed the priority boarding deadline. We boarded the aircraft only to find that some of our seats were taken. These has been reserved already, but flight attendants proceeded to seat us in empty seats - there weren't many. As a family we had intended to sit together, but due to the confusion onboard the aircraft this was not possible. I could not believe that the cabin crew was so rude. They were annoyed that we weren't seated before take-off. They didn't care that our seats were taken by other passengers. They wanted everyone sat down!
I can only thank my lucky stars that the inbound journey was with another airline. That experience was far more pleasant.
Post my holiday, I wrote into Ryanair to obtain a refund for the £120 baggage allowance. Unsurprisingly, they were unwilling to go through with this. They were very unreasonable. As for me and my family, I will never be using Ryanair ever again. Once was enough.
Over and Out!

This was my first (and last flight) with Ryanair.
From the start to finish Ryanair seem to do their best to make you jump through hoops in order to make every extra Euro they can from you. Buying the flight took no less than four attempts to avoid the additional extras. But it was only until I got my receipt did I realise I hadn't opted out of using their own exchange rate rather than the rate offered by my bank costing me an extra £45!
The cost of luggage is insane pushing you to use smaller hand luggage which Ryanair have a weight limit on so you end up compromising your holiday so Ryanair can line their pockets further.
We were flying back from Greece with our two kids and wanted to ensure we sat together so had to buy their premium seats but this means nothing in an airport that doesn't support the different queues.
As soon as you get on the plane you realise you are a third class citizen. The seats are better on the London underground. Ryanair have removed seat pockets to speed up the turn around time, probably why our seats stank of vomit. Also makes you wonder if they spend the time to do the required number of safety checks at each airport.
Throughout the flight were asked to buy scratch cards. Seriously, come on!!
A small can of beer costs £5 and whilst that is to be expected I suppose given the cost of everything else on this so called budget flight they had run out of all drinks and hot food and could only offer hot chocolate and biscuits. This was at midnight after we had been delayed an hour so the majority of the people on the plane were really hungry and rightly were really upset.
To cap it off, upon landing in the UK at the equivalent of 3am Geek time we were all shaken by a loud siren announcing the fact that Ryanair had successfully landed another on time flight. We were late by an hour.
To put the cost of this budget flight into perspective we (two adults, two kids) flew out with another low cost airline (who I'm no great fan of but do a better job) and this cost us £440. The flight back to the UK with Ryanair was over £1100.
Ryanair made everything from buying to flying painful.
Never. Ever. Again.

Me and a friend were traveling from Ibiza to Stansted at 4pm. A week earlier I got an email stating the flight was changed to 2pm! Ok the morning of my flight I got an email saying online check in is mandadory and you need to print out your boarding pass. As I was on holiday I couldn't print it out, so tried to check in online was so difficult to I finally gave up. When we arrived at the airport we discover the flight is actually at 4pm not 2pm as the email said.! We were told it's 70 euros to check in as we didn't do it online. I went to the Ryan air office to speak to someone about it. I have never experienced a more rude response to our questions. I was just trying to tell them they never told us there was a 70 euros fine, and we just going home from holiday and are low on money. I paid the fine and was walking back to the checking counter when I mentioned to a person staying by how shocking the service was. The man behind the counter ran up to us said that we were so rude that he is not letting us on the flight! I went to check in they refused to let me on the flight!! I had bought my ticket paid this ridiculous fine and after all that theyre not letting me check in!!! Tell me how do you have the power or right to treat a paying customer like that!!! I went back to the counter begging on my hands and knees, Please please just let me on the flight! We just want to go home! How can you strand two girls like that. We paid for our tickets and check in. It got to the point where both of us were crying! Eventually they let us on the flight, with the snark remark "I hope you two behave yourself". Let me just ask, in what world are you allowed to treat customers like that? How dare you make me beg and cry just to get on the flight I paid for? Ryan Air was the worst experience of my life!!!
After flying with Ryanair for the first time, my family and I had a horrible experience. On the way to our holiday destination, our flight took off, only for the passengers to then be told that there was no refreshments on board, no drinks, no food and no water! Baring in mind you are only allowed to take one bottle of drink on board. A family member we were travelling with, has a health problem, where he has to drink water every hour to keep hydrated or can have seizures. The whole family was then put on edge for the 4 hour flight, worrying. I then complained to Ryanair about this, and 2 months on have heard nothing. They are obviously too big a company to care about the welfare of their customers. We shall never fly with Ryanair again.
I was expecting some bad things from RyanAir but our flight left early and arrived early in both Spain and returning to England. The flight was comfortable and it as I mentioned it was fast. The prices for the Drinks ect are a little steep but I do not blame them since the flights themselves are so cheap. I will definitely fly with RyanAir again as they are cheap and get you there fast with least hassle!
I booked with Ryan air to go from East Midlands to gerona Spain. I was wary about using them from heading horror stories about extra payments. I read the conditions. Weighed my baggage and off we went. Granted check in was rough but after a while they opened more desks. We travelled with 2 children aged 2 and 7. We paid for priority boarding (a must in my eyes if you are with small children) when called to the gate we only waited 10 mins then straight on the plane. They loaded up quickly, non of this messing about I've had with other companies. The words I would use is that they're slick. We landed 25 mins early and not even 5 mins to wait for our bags. In a nut shell. Read read read their terms. Expect what it is, its a budget air line. If you book with out imagining first class travel when its very cheap and you can't go wrong.
Excess baggage charges seem to be the priority!
Although my bag was well within the weight limit, i was asked to reorganis the bag so it would fit the Ryanair handbag cage.
...But even more was revealed in the employment tribunal as the staff member stated that Ryanair set a target of £1000 per month for each passenger handling member of staff to collect from excess baggage. She had even collected £7000 over an 8 day Christmas period, which just goes to show the amount of pressure the ground staff are under – not only making sure people get to the plane on time but also extracting money from them for any luggage which goes in the hold.
