had some problems getting started. too long of a story to get into but with the help of a jalbum team member ( and several e-mails) the problem was finally solved.
so thank you Sanna Nordgan for your patience ( I was about to unsubscribe from jalbum) but Sanna fixed it all for me.
With this photo side nothing is missing in my thought it has everything.
Mijn site is www.mijnhoutweb.nl

I have used jAlbum several years and never had any critical problems. I like it, because it let you focus on managing your images. There is no need to care about html, java script...but if you want, you can.
Very reliable, great options, good forum for support. Well worth buying a licence and a power account.
I have used this software for the last 5 years+ and love it.
I have looked at other methods of Displaying a Photo Web Page.
This one does in a way that fits my budget.
I have been looking for a tool like this that I can create my photo albums and post to Facebook, thanks for such a good tool that allows me to build and share within a few minutes and not to mention the price, it's great!!!!
I've displayed photographs on the internet since 1998. Some of the software I've used has been quite expensive, some of it free. I can truthfully recommend to anyone needing a static display and sales facility for their photographs to explore Jalbum.
I have yet to find the perfect application for selling photos as a wedding and event photographer but the most useful in terms of ease of use and reliability has been Jalbum. The basic skins of the Pro version has everything any working photographer tight on funds would need to offer profession display and on-line sales of their photographs. The only thing preventing me from awarding 5 stars is my need to occasionally use a different program for some of my work.
Very pleasant people to deal with.
As owner of more than 10 000 photos of wild nature I was desperately searching for nice and convenient solution to generate fast working album in HTML and JavaScripts, that I can easyle take with me on USB, show as a presentation, or publish on any hosting over web. After several unlucky attempts with different solutions offered over the internet and found by google, I almost lost hope on finding something that could really solve my task. But on StackOverflow I saw post about JAlbum, I gave it a try.
JAlbum rocks! What I have found out really exceeded my expectations! I could generate my album really fast, convienient and easily, with a lot of options offered! What I like the most is that Jalbum allows generation of album with complex folder structure, exactly what I needed for botanical herbs photo catalog!
Thanks a lot! You have moved my humble photography work to an advanced level!
To many bugs, some which have been there since Version 8.
Your support doesn't seem to get it. When someone complained that the new version was not detecting their TIF files, a problem that I also had, the support person told them to modify the all their files because that was the work around. That doesn't make sense for a photographer who has hundreds of files, and by the way doesn't want to reset all the last modifed dates to get Jalbum to work.
All of my projects are called My Album. Apparently you get the name from the folder and want each project to have it's own folder.
It crashes on large files and you have to figure out which ones are problem.
It takes literally days to process a folder full of short movies. And then the movies don't work because of a plug in problem for which their is no indication as to what plugin you need and where to get it.
Java is a pain because it leads inexperienced software companies to point their finger at Java as the source of their problems. Bundle all of your components and take ownership of them and hide them from users.
It's unusual that I wholeheartedly endorse a piece of software; this is an exception. It does everything I want, extremely well. Having used the trial version for a couple of days, I had no qualms whatever about buying the full pro version. It really *is* good. If I had the tiniest quibble, I'd like to have more control over some of the HTML header information - like setting key words and a custom favicon image. But it's early days; I may well discover it already does it, I just haven't found it yet. Seriously, though, it really is an excellent program.
as the late Steve Jobs would say. Insanely awesome
JAlbum was one of those rare sites and products that made you feel like not everybody was out just to get a buck. They had a great product, let people use if for free, kept striving to improve it, updated it frequently, and fostered a friendly, participatory environment. It was perfect for me because, first of all, I'm poor. When you're on disability there's not much you can do sometimes except keep your mind busy on your computer. I do 3d computer art and JAlbum was the perfect way for me to construct two small galleries.. One had 12 images and one had about 70. I had more than enough free space, and then they gave everyone even more space! So I had room to grow and create.
Then recently they announced that they were no longer giving any free space, even for a tiny gallery. Not only that but they were taking back all the free space they had already given out unless you bought a certain membership. What they should have done is told people that from now on they would only give out a small amount of space for free so you could maintain some kind of gallery and share it with friends and family. Or that they were no longer providing any space from now on to new customers but that current customers could keep the space they were already using or had already been given.
I felt betrayed. It was depressing. I know they have a bottom line but they don't feel like the friendly company they once were. I bought the membership even though I couldn't really afford it because I felt forced to and I didn't want my albums to disappear, but I'm going to start looking for some other kind of online album. It probably won't be as slick and fun and creative as JAlbum, but oh well. I have a bottom line too.
My sister in law's uncle is a photographer. He recently started working on a big project and said he wanted to post all of it online but he didn't know how to do HTML or make a web page. I told him he didn't have to, and that when he was ready I could show him this free site where you could make and upload beautiful, professional looking albums. Well, I guess he's one of those people who takes forever to do something or one of those people who is always starting something big but never finishes it because it's been a couple of years and I haven't heard from him. It's just as well though. I know he's still working on it, but if he asks me maybe I'll have to decide if JAlbum is even worth mentioning. Maybe I'll find something better by then.
I renewed for 3 year membership. I was a huge mistake. I had a problem with the most recent pictures I had uploaded. All the old ones were different size and the new ones were much bigger so I contact the support hoping they can fix it.
Their customer rep Sanna Nordgren, wasn't professional or helpful at all. He told me to do a few things and I had NO idea what he was talking about. Instead of showing me how it's done he just assumed it's so easy anyone can do it. So I e-mailed back saying can anyone show me and he goes.. oh I thought you had the software. Anyway, he said he'll ask someone to help me on Monday and that Monday came and gone. I didn't hear anything back for more than a week. So I emailed again and this person lies to me and says, actually I already replied to you. Then he types his late and forced response under that e-mail. Very unprofessional customer support.
I have a YouTube channel where I teach photography. I have 87,000 followers there and on Facebook another 22,000. I was planning to review Jalbum to show my followers that it's a great site but after this horrible customer service incident they will not be happy with my review. I'm telling everyone to stay away from them. Save the money and the headache.
As soon as I find another alternative I'll remove them from my site and not renew my membership in future.

This affordable program met the needs of my clients' websites for display of artwork. The handling of well prepared and appropriately sized images made the output thru jAlbum to show good quality. I did not use the image handling tools in jAlbum to any extent, preferring image prep in Photoshop. It took some practice/ time to caption images and wish there was a 'find & change' function to the captioning process for more 'global changes'. Instructions were a bit vague about how to move the completed output files to the website under construction on my computer, but some experimenting allowed me to do that by drop and drag. I wish the output files in 'my albums' were 'smart' files so that updates to them would appear in my website files on my computer. I did NOT wish to 'publish' or 'upload to site' using the ftp within jAlbum and found it inconvenient to have to 'drag and drop' new versions of galleries into my on computer site files. I found reading thru many of the jAlbum forum entries to be most informative...given there are no 'manuals' for the program. I contacted jAlbum with some of my questions and was pleased with speedy responses. I was able, with forum and support help, to make necessary changes to the Galleria skin for use on sites. One change, keeping the captions and image oriented to the bottom of their container' was not possible and that choice/ capability might a good addition: re: not all images are equally 'tall' so the bottom edge of an image and its caption may 'hop' up and down...ugh. All in All it is a helpful program for my web designing for artists, showing their artwork in an attractive, user friendly manner. Using inline frames which accommodated the galleries was a good solution for me allowing the use of templates I had designed for use throughout sites.. For a WYSIWYG & Mac based designer as I am, jAlbum was a good choice. FYI my newest client is verrrrry happy with the galleries.
I use jAlbum for my rather small commercial site. I actually host my site on their server and sell using jAlbum and Paypal. The skin I'm using is the latest version of Chameleon, which is older but still suits my purpose. I have my albums set up similar and every time I add more to it, it's pretty straight forward. I update my albums and directly upload to the site. I've used their service and software for years and have been very happy with it. I've had relatively few issues but when there's been a problem, I send an email and someone has replied in a timely manner, especially considering I'm located on the other side of the Atlantic. On one occasion it took several back and forth messages to figure out what was going on but it was handled very professionaly and cordially. I highly recommend jAlbum.
Love the way it works, sometimes I have problem with the preview only see x's instead of the pictures
I was using another program to upload photo's to the web, just thumbnails which expanded when clicked, this was cumbersome and time consuming to look at a lot of photo's. I tried Jalbum and it worked great, lots of templates. I found a template that I liked and uploaded to the web, good comments from a couple that I asked to look at it. Purchased the program and will upload more photo's over the summer.
it is just great. It is working fine and is easy to use.
I love it
JAlbum is easy to use for inept beginners. Photos are easy to upload and display beautifully. I do have difficulties with naming albums - it took me a while to realise '-' is not good to put in a name! I have tried to import and implement a skin to my albums but failed miserably. However I know I need to make time to do the tutorials and look at FAQ's. One day!
Everything was ok and I am very satisfied. My best recommandation.
I've tried many different solutions, ranging from standalone PHP-solutions, complex web software to wordpress plugins. jAlbum is by far the most enjoyable all-in-all experience when it comes to online photoalbums and to manage them.
I need flexibility, nice albums (good user experience for visitors) and the power needed to deal with a great number of pictures. jAlbum gives me all that and more! I don't regret for a second I bought it!
J Album is very easy to use and caters for the novice through to the advanced user. You can use the available skins which are numerous and constantly improving. Or you can develop your own to make that " I am here statement ! " It does exactly what it says. The professional version software allows you to use your own web presence and promote your work or portfolio at its best. j Album hosting is exceptionally good value with ranges to suit amateur to professional.
Great tool for setting up a image/video gallery.
The different skins and layout options makes it a very flexible to use for whatever purpose necessary.
It would be helpful if the (paid) version includes a full manual, with all feature described with examples.
The Wiki and FAQ are helpful, but in order to find out exactly how some of the advanced features work, you need to go through a lot of articles.
Great job guys! Keep it going!
In the past the support for characters like "ě" was rather limited, now it's OK.
Overall, I have tried a lot of generators and eventually ended up with jAlbum as the one to use for good. Excellent software!
