The product was everything I expected it to be. Good quality, easy to assemble. Clear written instructions with the item but not needed as assembly was quite straightforward. Speedy delivery and well packaged. I would certainly commend this company to others.
Outstanding customer service! Although very well packed the item I'd purchased had become damaged during transit. Bernard's Bins were absolutely fantastic; they organised a replacement which arrived the very next day! Pleased to see good old fashioned customer service still exists. Highly recommend this company!
I am refitting a study and other ares and decided to start utilising Bernards Bins' pine bookshelves. Having puchased three of the smallest sizes, to see how they shaped up, I will eventually be buying more of them in a range of sizes. The wood is of good quality and certainly strong enough for the job in hand. They can be fitted together quickly. The wooden planks are made of glued and scarphed sections, which were well finished. Scarphs and sections would notice if the wood is left plain, stained or varnished, as with other furniture boards. I have painted mine, however - as always intended - and they look great. Highly recommended!
We are BigDUG customer 438725 and this review is of BigDUG order 442402.
The item was two sets of small industrial racking. Sold on eBay it was cheaper than used items on offer, once free transport was taken into account. The despatch was very prompt. The goods were of good quality.
The first fault for BigDUG to note was that the one day service turned into three days. This was a failure of the (UK Mail ?) depot in Exeter I think. The tracking seemed never to get beyond Gloucester until well after the Exeter delivery. The depot determined that a special large vehicle should make the delivery but it was short of the appropriate driver. The resulting backlog seems to have kept our delivery over a second day. The actual delivery was dropped outside our door with no attempt to involve us in receiving or signing for it.
The second fault possibly goes back to the manufacturer. Each set of racking came in two parts: the chipboard shelves and everything else. Everything else was in a cardboard sleeve 1800mm long. That sleeve carried the (relatively heavy) steel uprights and beams; the soft cardboard flaps at each end of the sleeve were unfit to contain these pieces. The end flaps seem to have been reinforced with cling-film, perhaps by the carrier during their journey. I was lucky in that one sleeve remained just intact; the other had completely failed at both ends, so that it was difficult to pick up the sleeve without its contents sliding out in both directions.
Each sleeve contained an illustrated list of contents and instructions. Neither the list nor the instructions mentioned four little black plastic caps presumably intended as either feet or caps for the steel uprights. These four caps were in the intact sleeve but were (the only components) all missing from the broken sleeve.
It seems to me that (1) the sleeve packaging should be reinforced at each end and (2) the black caps should be contained (perhaps with the instruction sheet) in their own plastic bag, to be taped to one of the heavy components in their package.
I would be very glad to receive the four missing black caps. I am using the ones I have as feet for one rack and I am locking the two racks together. The assembly is unbalanced (and the floor will be damaged) because I do not have these missing items.
I ordered two louvred plates for hooking storage bins to the wall of my workshop - one from BB and the other from Big Dug. They were ordered within minutes of each other on eBay - when I realised that they were the same company, I e-mailed them asking them to combine postage. My e-mail was simply ignored. Both items were delivered by the same driver at the same time.
